The Landsberg Barbarians

LLBarbariansOn this self-guided-tour sign in Landsberg am Lech, something I did not know:

Johnny Cash was one of the most influential American country singers and songwriters. Cash entered the Air Force in 1950, and was stationed the following year as a radio operator at the military base in Landsberg am Lech. Here he formed his first band, the Landsberg Barbarians. and wrote the song “Folsom Prison Blues” here after seeing the film “Inside The Walls of Folsom Prison”.

The prison in Landsberg is well-known too, but not because of Johnny Cash. A certain Führer wrote his best-seller while on writing retreat doing time there after the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich.
