First we had a hot, steamy morning. Then a summer downpour on and off through the afternoon, then this,

And then this morning a small earthquake, just to keep things interesting. Up here in my rooftop apartment the bookcases swayed and the balcony plants shook for several seconds. News reports say the epicenter was near Modena. This is the second one in so many weeks for northern Italy, and deaths have been reported, as well as many injured and the collapse of buildings already damaged from last week’s quake.
There is no panic here, we are far enough away from the tectonic action. Our thoughts are with Italy now, which has enough problems already without its cities being reduced to rubble.
