Guerilla Knitting

The Phantom Knitter Strikes Septa

Recently brought to my attention: an artist in Philadelphia who does “yarn bombing” as a form of guerilla art, which is to say she surreptitiously knits covers for public, city items (lampposts, statues, parking meters etc.) Earlier this year two knitted seat covers showed up on the Frankford El.

The phantom knitter has her own website, by the way.

I love this idea-I was thinking about blogging about it myself.

A friend just told me that she’s seen similar knittings on streetlamps in her German city.
