>This summer one of the big producers on my terrace was a modest chili pepper plant, which gave the big yellow peppers shown above. Then I invited a few friends over for coffee, and one guest arrived with a little pepper plant that was positively bursting with peppers. So, it was time to string them up and sun-dry them! Whatever their exact name is, they are all very very scharf. This will keep me in hot pepper flakes through the winter!
There is something deeply satisfying about harvesting food from one’s own garden, even if it’s not very much. I am envious of people with big garden plots (ahem, Bob!) but happy enough that I can pull a fraction of it off with my little urban plot in the sky.
