Birdhouses at the restaurant Dampfschiff (Steamship), in Grafrath, Bavaria. An interesting side-note: This restaurant used to serve the day-trippers from Munich from 1880 to 1939, when there used to be a steamship which would take them (first arriving at the Grafrath rail station) down the Amper River to the Ammersee. A new rail line straight to Herrsching spelled the end for the steamship, and all that remains now is the restaurant. There are very nice historic photos on the walls.
Fresh snow in Klais, Bavaria (near Garmisch-Partenkirchen).
Near the Bavarian-Tirolean border, from the train. The ski slopes and the Nordic ski tracks are full of skiers, and that keeps the local economy buzzing. Skiing as a form of transportation, by the way, turns out to be at least 7,000 years old.

how beautiful, I really like both the scenery and the birdhouse. I hope in the Dampfschiff “hat es nicht wie in einem Vogelhäusl gezogen”
LOL! Nein, es war echt gemütlich. The only bad experience we ever had there was when sharing the terrace with a busload of drunken FC Bayern fans, who had stopped for lunch. But even that was tolerable.
Wow!
Really beautiful!
